[Ann] Palm Weblogger 1.0

I have made the initial release of the Palm Pilot Weblog software, Plog. It allows you to write Weblog entries in your Palm Pilot and have them posted onto your Weblog when you synchronize with your PC.

The software came about because I was waiting in a dentists reception area for my wife to finish a checkup. I had my Palm Pilot with me and wanted to get an entry down that I've been thinking about for a while. So I hacked out the entry as a Memo and began thinking how it would be nice just to sync up to my PC and have this entry posted.

The software is a simple Palm Conduit that is installed on the PC that you sync to. The user writes entries using the Memo application on the Palm and places them into a "Weblog" category when they wish them to be published. The conduit picks up the entries and posts them using an XML-RPC interface.

The licence allows use for non-commerial purposes, but does require that users post a comment to this weblog entry. The comment must contain the users configuration and optionally a feature request and/or link to their weblog.

Check it out

Sounds impressive, Daniel! Shame I don't have Palm to try it out on :(.

I have two palms but whenever I use them to write down ideas the ink gets smudged or washes off in the shower. Plus there's no holes in my puter that they'll fit in, although my CDROM has taken a few goes at grabbing them.

Maybe I missed something :D

Heh yes thanks guys (BTW Kris I thought grumpy rock stars don't shower?). I think I need to post my comment as someone who actually 0wnz a _virtual_ Palm Pilot and uses the software.

I am using a Palm IIIc, Palm Desktop 4.0 and 4.1 and Moveable Type.

I just noticed it truncated my title and repeats the title in the first line. It would also be good if I didn't have to delete the entry after I sync and posted. One more good feature would be able to post as a draft first.

And my response ... I'll add all that shortly

Showers are only a myth, perpetuated by the totalitarian fascist regime of...oh sorry...wrong blog.

Success! Got it to work with my T3 with the PalmOS5 SuperWaba. Very cool.

Trying to get this to work (Palm Vx, using Drupal for my blog).

All I seem to get is a hotsync log entry like this:
java.lang.NullPointerException
at net.dbradby.plogger.MemoCond.open(MemoCond.java:60)
at palm.conduit.SyncManager.sync(SyncManager.java:132)

Pity really...

john..
