Is that a Volvo?

We were initially thinking we would be able to do without a car in the US. HAH! Not in this car orientated society. The cars and the petrol are extremely cheap. We got this 1989 Volvo 740 station wagon for $500 US and petrol is about 50c a litre.

We have just come back from a drive up to New Hampshire then just slightly into the bottom of Maine. Check out the gallery for the new pics of the trip, the car and my study (all that office furniture brand new for $170!).

What is it with the flags?

Yeah sure we have an Aussie flag up in our kitchen window. Guy across the street has a Polish flag on his car. There are American flags all up and down the street. That's fine. It's good to feel a part of a country, but lets not get carried away with this piece of cloth ok.

Some of you might have seen references to this piece of news in Australia. I can tell you it received no air time here.

Aussie flag dispute keeps billy boiling - Basically a community of crusty old rednecks in Florida don't like the Aussie flag flying next door to them.

Freedom indeed.

On a side note the plates for cars in New Hampshire carry the slogan "Live Free or Die"

Tivo, Bruins and History

Well you've all been staring at a blank weblog for long enough. The more observant amoung you will see the pictures still being added to the gallery

So firstly Tivo. Our Tivo arrived today and Jen is using it now to skip ads while watching ... Dawson's Creek (I'm not sure how I feel about this). Anyway for those that don't know, it's like a VCR, but much more. It's records live TV as you go, so you can pause, rewind and fast forward. It is also setup to record every episode in a season of your favourtie TV show, plus after a while it works out your viewing habits and records programs it thinks you might like. Even after one day it has worked out I like Snoopy (well I do now anyway).

Jen promises to write some more this afternoon and what we've been doing lately. For a preview check out the gallery for pictures of us at an Ice Hockey match and look into previous Boston pics for pictures of last weekends trip through local historic Cape Anne, Salem and Concord.

Lastly I want to share the photo below with you. It is topical for me as I have (finally) finished reading Fast Food Nation. Look closely to see some part of this truly fast food nation.
