It's nice to finally make some runs

Everything was in place to turn my game around this Saturday. I had missed the last two training sessions, was late to the match, didn't stretch and warm up, and maybe the most important, played with a different bat.

We were playing a 30 over match to which I arrived some 10 overs in (Boston traffic) and we were batting. Just after drinks we lost a wicket and were 3/75. I was sitting back quite relaxed as a few of us were padded up. Well I got the nod, grabbed some random bat and headed out there.

Started off playing some spin which suits me perfectly and even left my crease a few times to sweep, drive and loft over the infield. Luckily my relatively slow scoring was complemented by some fast scoring partners. I had particular difficulty putting away the slow-medium bowlers due to my poor timing on a slow wicket. I watched several people get bowled and go LBW from some ankle high bounce, while later an arguement erupted about a ball that went over shoulder height. Mass. wickets.

So I stayed to make 19 (37) not out and saw the score go from 75 to 158. I had a relatively quiet time in the field moving around from 2nd slip, point, third man to fly slip. We won the match and the score card can be seen at http://www.mitcricket.com/MIT_vs_Eagles_Aug_14.htm

Next week we have a match that is do or die. A loss would see us move back from Division A to Division B!
