Close to the Ashes

Hi Everyone! I just had to share this photo of Dad and I as close as you can get to The Ashes. We thought about taking them back to Australia, but the 82 year old guy on the door (and friend of the late Keith Miller) looked menacing with his cane. What a great series to be working from home for. It was always on in the background as I worked.

Since we left Boston (which we miss dearly, especially at this time of year. Of course the Fall colours, but I love the sunny yet crisp weather. It's also the lead up to the ski season) we have been settling into life in London. Jen started off doing some replacement teaching and now has a 2 term contract. I started off with a 6 week contract which was a great break from the work I was doing in the US. It was close to home (now 5 mins walk) and refreshingly different. Voice recognition mixed with Web Services and Websphere. I was working on the build process and doing some performance testing/tuning.

After that great break I ended up back working with the US company I was with. It's a great deal. I get to do exactly what I have been doing for the past 1+ years, but from home in London. I'm also back as a contractor and getting paid per hour. I am working hard and have a great group of people to work with.

I've been doing that now for over 3 months and am just starting to miss having people to have lunch with and talk face to face to. Well today I am off to Paris for 2 weeks to work with a group of people on the project. Just what I need and perfect as I can catch the train and not have to worry about flying. The day I get back I say farewell to my parents and the next day flying to Greece for a week vacation.

So busy times ahead and I have been keeping up with putting photos in the gallery. So go check them out - http://dbradby.net/gallery
