Early start for Mothers Day

Last Sunday was Jen's first Mothers Day and we celebrated nice and early. We took part in the Mothers Day 4km run around the Tan. I managed to push our 14kg stroller the whole way with Maisy inside (sleeping!) and Jen showed how well she has bounced back from pregnancy and labour. My time wasn't the best, but a good start (33 mins).

One last thought. Is it Mother's Day or Mothers Day? Do the Mother's own the day or are there just many Mothers? Or both?

Look! I even fixed the comments!

I really do appreciate everyone's persistence in trying to make comments and constantly getting rejected by my nervous spam filter. The poor filter must have had so much spam thrown at it that it eventually rejected almost everything. I've removed the filter and added a security image check. Each time you leave a comment you are asked to enter in the security code you see in the image. This is a little unfriendly to the visually impaired, but I checked the blog of the only person I know who is legally blind and he uses the same system. Remember that email address and URL are optional so don't bother with those fields. Just a name is fine.

Breathing life back into this thing

Suddenly, I seem to be interested in bringing this blog back to life again. After last night's post I got organised and started publishing my del.icio.us (how can a site so hard to type do so well?) bookmarks through my rss feed. Only people who subscribe to my feed will see them (honestly who is still not using feed readers and bothered to come back here after 5 months of nothing?).

I'm using Feedburner to splice in my bookmarks and redirecting my original feed to Feedburner. So basically you guys don't have to do anything. If you're interested in doing this yourself then check out

Almost 6 months on

It's almost been 6 months since Maisy was born and I'm finally starting to get my head out of the clouds. A lot has happened. Work wise I am finishing up with my work in the US and moving onto more local work. This time both in Ruby on Rails and Java.

Maisy has been doing very well, mostly due to Jen being a great Mum. Maisy is sleeping very well, eating a lot better and moving on nicely to more solid foods with ease. My influence has mainly been restricted to books and computers (she prefers Mac).
