Watching "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" inspired me to read Oscar Wilde's "The Picture of Dorian Gray." I'm halfway through and finding it real page-turner. It's full of affectation, hedonism, immorality, disreputable characters and wrecked lives, all examined in exquisite detail and would be merely melodramatic twaddle except for Wilde's brilliant, self-deprecating irony which has me re-reading every second paragraph because it's so funny. I can heartily recommend (the first half of) this book.

I pay a flat rate of $20 a month for any two books, so I tend to choose the more expensive unabridged versions. This shall be my next book. Thanks Alan.
